Professional photos for your Google Business Profile, website, headshots, and small business marketing in Vancouver

When someone searches for your business or searches for a photographer near me, a salon, a clinic, a shop, a restaurant, or any other local business, they are usually making a quick decision.

Do I trust this place? Does it look professional? Does it feel welcoming? Is this somewhere I want to book, visit, call, or buy from?

That decision often happens before they ever walk through your door.

That is where business photography comes in!

Professional photos help your business make a strong first impression online. They show people what your space looks like, what your brand feels like, who they may be working with, and why your business is worth choosing.

And in a city like Vancouver, where people have a lot of options, those first few seconds matter.

Your photos are either helping people trust you — or quietly giving them a reason to keep scrolling.

Examples of good Google business photos vs bad ones

Your Google Business Profile is part of your first impression

For many businesses, your Google Business Profile is one of the first places potential customers see you.

That means your Google Photos are not just “extra.” They are part of how people decide whether your business feels trustworthy, current, polished, and worth visiting.

And the numbers are pretty convincing. Google’s 2026 Business Profile best-practices playbook says that 90% of people are more likely to visit a business if it has photos on Google Search and Maps, and that businesses with photos receive 42% more direction requests and 35% more website clicks.

So yes, your Google Business photos matter!

A lot.

If your business looks better in person, your photos are not doing their job

This is one of the biggest reasons I love Business Photography.

So many businesses are beautiful, welcoming, thoughtful, clean, creative, warm, professional, or full of personality in real life but their online photos do not show that.

Maybe the photos are dark. Maybe they are outdated. Maybe they were taken quickly on a phone. Maybe they do not show the space properly. Maybe they do not reflect the quality of the work being done.

And that is such a missed opportunity.

Great business photography helps close the gap between what your business feels like in person and how it shows up online.

If your business looks better in person than it does online, it is probably time for a photo refresh.

What should business photos actually show?

Strong business photos should help people understand your business quickly.

Depending on what you do, that might include:

  • your exterior or storefront

  • your entrance

  • your interior space

  • service areas

  • product displays

  • tools, details, or materials

  • staff working naturally

  • finished results

  • atmosphere and experience (vibe!)

  • professional headshots or team photos

The goal is not just to have “pretty photos.” The goal is to help potential customers feel more confident choosing you.

That is why commercial photography for small businesses is so valuable. It gives you a professional library of images you can use across your Google Business Profile, website, social media, booking pages, email marketing, and printed materials.

Google Business Photo Session vs. Brand Story Photo Session

Not every business needs the same kind of session, so I offer two main options.

Google Business Photo Session

A Google Business Photo Session is a great fit if you want photos of your exterior, interior, details, service areas, products, atmosphere, and the overall feel of your business.

This is ideal for businesses that want to look more current, professional, and trustworthy online without needing a full brand shoot.

Brand Story Photo Session

A Brand Story Photo Session is a better fit if you want to show more of the full experience of your business.

This may include staff working, customers or models receiving a service, lifestyle moments, finished results, team energy, and a more complete story of what it feels like to work with you or visit your business.

For example, if you own a salon and want photos of models getting their hair done, individual finished hair photos, group shots, staff working, interior details, and exterior photos, that is more than a simple Google Business session. That is a brand story session.

Both options are valuable. It just depends on how much of your business you want to show. I did a Branding Session for Poppy Hair Salon, and they use the photos for their socials and their website 😍

What about headshots?

If people are searching for headshots Vancouver or a headshot photographer, they are usually looking for a photo that feels professional, approachable, and current.

Headshots are especially helpful for business owners, staff pages, booking profiles, LinkedIn, websites, real estate, clinics, salons, wellness businesses, creative professionals, and service-based businesses.

A strong headshot helps people put a face to the business. It makes you feel more real, more trustworthy, and easier to connect with.

And no, it does not need to feel stiff or corporate.

The best headshots feel polished, natural, and like you on a really good day.

A few tips before booking business photography

1. Think about what people need to trust you

Before your session, think about what a brand-new customer would want to see before choosing you.

Do they need to see your space? Your work?Your team?Your products?Your process?Your results?

Your photos should answer the questions people are already asking in their minds.

2. Clean and simplify the space

You do not need to make everything perfect, but a tidy space photographs much better.

Clear extra clutter, hide cords and garbage bins, wipe mirrors and counters, straighten displays, and remove anything that does not need to be part of the photo.

The goal is for your business to feel intentional, not staged beyond recognition.

3. Show what makes your business different

Maybe it is your beautiful space. Maybe it is your calm energy. Maybe it is your attention to detail. Maybe it is your staff. Maybe it is your products. Maybe it is the way customers feel when they walk in.

Good photography helps those things come through.

You are not just showing what your business looks like. You are showing people why they should choose you.

Why I love photographing businesses

I have been a full-time photographer since 2010, and over the years, I have photographed many different types of people, spaces, and stories.

Business photography brings together so many things I genuinely love: storytelling, creative direction, beautiful details, helping people feel comfortable, and supporting small businesses as they grow.

I love helping a business look the way it actually feels in real life — polished, welcoming, professional, and worth choosing.
