Graduation is a pretty big deal.

Whether you’re finishing Grade 12, graduating from university, or finally holding that degree you worked ridiculously hard for, it deserves more than a quick phone photo before everyone heads off to celebrate.

I offer graduation photography in Vancouver for high school and university grads, with sessions available in my Vancouver studio or at a location that feels right for you.

That might mean traditional cap and gown portraits, photos in your grad outfit, a session with your closest friends, portraits with your family, or wandering around your university campus photographing you in the place where you spent the last few years of your life.

There really isn’t one way a grad session has to look.

Grade 12 Graduation Photos in Vancouver

School grad photos have their place, but sometimes you want something a little more personal.

My Grade 12 graduation photography sessions can be photographed in the studio for a clean, simple look that keeps all the attention on the graduate. Or on location like a garden, beach, or your home!

You can bring your cap and gown, wear your prom or graduation outfit, bring a second outfit you love, or keep things completely casual.

And yes, friends are absolutely welcome!

Some of my favourite grad sessions are best-friend sessions. You’ve survived high school together. You probably have approximately 4,000 questionable phone photos together. It seems fair that you get a few really great ones too.

You can also include parents, siblings, or any other important people in your life in your session.

University Graduation Photography in Vancouver

Your campus has been a huge part of your life, so it can make the perfect location for your graduation photos.

If you’re graduating from UBC, SFU, BCIT, or another university or college in the Lower Mainland, we can photograph your session around your campus and include locations that are meaningful to you!

Wear your cap and gown. Bring your degree. Bring your family. Bring your partner. Bring the friends who helped get you through finals week.

Or forget the traditional graduation look altogether and make it more of a portrait session celebrating this stage of your life.

Your Grad Photos Don’t Have to Be on Campus

You worked hard for the degree. You’re allowed to choose the scenery.

For outdoor graduation photos in Vancouver, we can choose a location based on the look you want.

Love Vancouver's mountains and skyline? Let's use them.

Want something relaxed at the beach? Absolutely.

Prefer trees, greenery, and a park setting? We have plenty of those too.

Want an urban Vancouver background that feels a little more modern? We can do that.

Your graduation photography session can take place at your university, a Vancouver beach, a park, around the city, or another location that has meaning to you! What's your vibe?

Graduation Photos With Friends

Please bring your friends.

Seriously.

Grad friend photos are ridiculously fun to photograph, especially because nobody needs much encouragement to laugh when they’ve known each other for years.

You can book a session specifically for a small group of graduating friends or include a few friend photographs during your individual session.

We can do some of the classic cap-and-gown photographs, but we'll also get the photographs that show your actual personalities and friendships.

Those are usually the ones I love the most!

Prom day photos

I love taking these, the energy is amazing!

You and your friends hanging out before the events start, with your cars, flowers, parents, etc. I love to document the whole thing!

Studio Graduation Photos vs. Outdoor Graduation Photos

Not sure which one to book?

Studio graduation photos

Choose a studio grad session if you love photographs that are:

  • clean and simple

  • focused entirely on you

  • weather-proof

  • great for cap and gown portraits

  • easy for a quick Grade 12 grad session

  • perfect for a few photographs with family or a friend

Outdoor or on-campus graduation photos

Choose a location grad session if you want:

  • your university campus in the photographs

  • Vancouver scenery

  • beaches, parks, mountains or city backgrounds

  • more variety

  • photographs that feel connected to the place where you graduated

  • room to walk, move and create a more relaxed collection of images

There isn't a better option, just a better option for you.

What Should I Wear for Graduation Photos?

Your cap and gown is always an option, but it definitely doesn't have to be the only thing you wear.

Depending on your session, you might bring:

  • your cap and gown

  • your graduation or prom outfit

  • a suit

  • a favourite dress

  • a casual outfit that feels more like you

  • school memorabilia

  • something connected to your sport, hobby or degree

The goal isn't to turn you into somebody else for the photographs.

I want you to look like yourself on a really good day!

“I’m Awkward in Photos.”

Excellent. Most humans are lol but facts.

You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to do with your hands.

That is my job.

I've been photographing people professionally full-time in Vancouver since 2010! I’ll guide you throughout the session so you aren't standing there wondering what on earth you're supposed to do next.

We'll get the photographs your parents will want to frame, but we'll also get the laughing, moving, less-formal photographs that feel more natural.

When Should I Book Graduation Photos in Vancouver?

Graduation season gets busy quickly, particularly from April through June, so booking ahead is always a good idea if you need a specific date.

You don't have to wait until the actual graduation ceremony, either.

Grade 12 graduation portraits can be taken before graduation, and university grad photos can be scheduled before or after convocation depending on when you have access to your cap and gown.

If you're planning photographs with a group of friends or several family members, booking earlier also makes finding a date that works for everyone much easier!
